Have you started dating your customers yet? | NetGen™ Blog

Have you started dating your customers yet?

You Better Start!
I approach marketing the same way I approach my pursuit of the opposite sex.  Building a brand experience is very similar to the dating process.

The Dating Experience VS Branding Experience Comparison:

1.  Am I in their league?

Me - I go for pretty women most likely to be interested in my services
Brand - target customers that will provide loyalty and are interested in a your services

2. What arena is this league played out of?

Me - I used to find them at the grocery store, the mall or the bar… Now I find them online
Brand - potential customers used to be found watching TV, listening to the radio or reading print ads…. Now they can be found online

3. Play Hard to Get!

Me - It is important to build awareness and start interaction, but a relationship needs to be built over time
Brand - It is important to build awarness and start interaction, but customer relationships need to be built over time.  PUSHY DOES NOT WORK… PULLY DOES!

4. Personality Makes Friends

Me - I use personality and laughter to connect with the opposite sex (looks alone don’t cut it) - I entertain and make it fun for the opposite sex to be around me
Brand - use personality and emotions such as humour and surprise to connect with customers.  Entertain and make it fun for customers to interact with your brand.

5.  Is it Love yet?

Me - I love me because I am me - but I have found the opposite sex doesn’t love me unless I give them nice gifts and treat them nice.
Brand - You love you because you are you - but customers don’t love you unless you give them things.  Give the customer gifts, entertain them and strategically buy their love, with digital brand promotions.

6. Don’t be Controlling.

Me - I never try and dominate or control a relationship.  Your partner should feel comfortable to speak their mind and provide value back to the relationship
Brand - Don’t talk at customers and control the relationship.  Utilize social media, user generated content and contests to create a better brand experience.
